The weather station is located in the backyard of our house in Aldgate, which is located in the Adelaide Hills in South Australia. The property is within a few hundred metres of the Aldgate Post Office, so the data recorded can be considered representative of the village.
One of the main obstacles to recording weather data in the Aldgate area is the height of the surrounding trees. Although I have mounted the anemometer on a mast which extends above the roofline, a couple of large trees block the anemometer from certain directions and negatively affect wind measurements.
The rain gauge and Stevenson screen are in a clearing and have reasonable exposure given the surrounding terrain. The screen is in full sun.
